We’re driving along a secluded highway in heavily forested Washington, when the driver grumbles, “Where’s all the wildlife?”
We had been driving for hours with barely a bird in sight.
As if on cue — I am not making this up! — a stag with a heavy rack of antlers sauntered out of the woods and stood in the early morning light, all proud and handsome.
He stood still for his Hollywood moment, as if on camera.
For once, we didn’t bother to stop to take a photo.
I’m just living in pure gratitude here.
