Met two charming war veterans at a community event and they asked a question I could not answer.

The 84-year-old Korean War vet asked, “Why are we (the U.S. military) in 23 countries?”

We had been talking about America’s longest war — Afghanistan.

Then the younger Vietnam War vet asked, “Why are we still at war?”

For once, I did not have an answer.
