When we haven’t seen friends for a long time, we use multi-syllabic words like “reconnection.”
It’s great to reconnect, we say. So glad we’ve reconnected.
We spend hours reviewing the years that have passed, catching up on family events and careers and life changes.
After we part, I am struck by the unspoken, the physical sensation of reconnection.
I am warmed by the sense of deep gratitude that fills my body with the same heat as a yoga session.
Isn’t that an amazing gift between friends?
We use words like reconnection, because the joy of seeing such good friends again is so powerful that every word we use to describe this seems clumsy.
My gratitude is so deep, and I am such an awkward wordsmith.
