I’m buoyed by reconnecting with long-time friends this week. We’re restarting conversations interrupted.
Some conversations were interrupted by distance; others by career switches, changes in partners, family circumstances and, sadly, the economy.
A few conversations were stalled, for all kinds of reasons.
Yet true friendship transcends all.
True friendship is this: Traveling alone, nervous about a public appearance, and discovering, in the crowd, the sweet grin of a friend believed long-lost.
He drove hours through a blizzard to reach me, and quietly offered his arm when the public crush was too much.
I’m grateful for his tenderness, when it was needed most.
