Friends brought an oversized bouquet with all the warming colors of summer.
Orange gerberas as lovely as a sunburst offered all the brightness we needed for a day of snow.
And then, this morning, one lily added soft lemon to the blaze of color.
Six perfect petals had unfurled in the night, making me feel blessed, on Sunday morning, by the gift of flowers in winter.
I am grateful for this gift of beauty, and I’m grateful for the givers, who could not have imagined how much hope I felt seeing a single blossom.
There are still more lilies preparing to open, so we anticipate a week of beauty, and gratitude for giving.
