The Susan G. Komen Foundation finally got sound, crisis control advice about its hurtful decision to cut off women who depend on Planned Parenthood for breast cancer education, prevention and screenings.

Reversal of that decision was praised yesterday as a triumph of social media.

I believe it was the power of women, doing what they’ve always done when their daughters, their mothers, and their sisters are threatened.

They raise the alarm; they gather resources; they protect their own.

Social media is just a faster, more efficient way for millions of women to do what they have done in all cultures, for all time:  Stand up for each other, in peace and with hope.
